Rollercoaster is comming back!!
Its looking like we have a date for the next year for all of you who are keen.
Thanks to all who travelled last year and hopefully we will have a few more of you in the racing to amp up the competion.
I think we will have a few repeat offenders racing for the prize bag!!
This time round we'll have the bugs ironed out and be running a bit smoother.
I'll get the updates once they have been finalised, and let you all know when the web site is up and running and entry forms are avalible.
Same place and road as last year,so whats being proposed is the following:
-a more technical course involving three(possibly 4) 90 degree corners.
-a larger starting ramp and the finish line will be immediatly after the last corner, followed by a slight incline in the road, so no need for the wedge ramp at the end.
-4 rider heats running on the points system 3pts/1rst, 2pts/2nd, 1pt/3rd.
-3 divisions- 16 and under,womens and open. if there aren't enough women to field their own class there may be an intermediate class age 17 and up. The Open class will be open to riders of all ages, men and women. Riders may only enter one class.
-entry fee will be between $20 and $30
-a possible slide comp/demo(comp for longest slide, style or both)

What's the track like? Not many photos on their webpage. Is there a girls comp or is it girls and boys 2gether?

last year it was girls and
last year it was girls and guys together, from wot i remember there was only one girl. The track is not very long and prob won't be the same as it was last year. If there's enough girls entered there could possible be a separate class. you'll have to talk to the Rollercoasters to get the details.

how fast
can you get lots of speed? coz i looked at the vids from last year and it dose not look like they go that fast until the end part.
track speed
Last year, the track topped out at about 20-25 km/h in the first half. Then for the final straightaway, you could get around 30-40.
Given that by the time Rollercoaster's gonna happen you would have been skating for around 3 months, I think the track would be within your limits, especially if you have an Evo which is pretty damn stable.
Of course, I say that without having any clue as to how fast, long and technical this year's track is going to be. If it's going to be in the same place, which is Albany, you could expect that the track has the possibility of being really fast (at least for me haha), topping out at say 65km/h. But I'd be willing to bet that the track wouldn't be that fast, since I'm assuming the people organizing it would have to get a fairly large road closed off to reach that speed
Still waiting on official details... I really want to see what this year's Rollercoaster track is going to be.

Nobody can tell you how tight your trucks need to be, thats a completely personal preference. Also you get to make practice runs before hand, and you can make adjustments to your set up prior to racing.

Latest info....
We had a walk over of the site today and discussed the changes,
The track is starting further up the hill, closer to the roundabout, and ending on the up hill side street opposite the entrance to the stadium.
The start is going to be on a wedge, NOT last years finish ramp, this wedge will enable all boards to roll start, No pushing allowed.
The course will be crossing the grass median in the middle of the road, there will be a constructed piece for this, keeping it fruity?
And crash corner is changing>>>>but will still be there in some form.
I'll chase up those who are building the site and get back to you.

Anyone interested in Racing for Ultimate Boards
If anyone is interested in racing for Ultimate Boards, wearing an Ultimate Boards/Original Skateboards t-shirt and riding on an Original Longboard let me know. Would be very interested to have a rider in the races on an Original Board. In the run up to the race I would lend you board so you can practise.

hey guys, new to this site, awesome to c people as keen on bombing as us in the north. The course isn't really steep enuff for tech sliding, it'll be more of a demo/ something to watch between racing. will try to get some more info this week.

Too bad I havn't got a helmet and pads yet haha, spend all my money on my board, now I gota get the gear. Love bombing hills in welly though, fastest I got was 50 km/h on tinakori.
