Trick #1 for the NeedNotOllie video challenge
Foot braking is the most important skill you can learn as a longboarder!
I know it's not exactly an impressive 'trick' but it is a very important and easy skill to learn.
A very effective way of stopping/slowing down at high or low speeds.
I like to think of it as a 'foot drag' rather than a brake - you really need to think of
it as skating on one foot, with your other foot dragging on the ground - do not try to push your
foot to the ground or put wieght on it.
Whichever foot you push with will most likely be your braking foot also. Push yourself to a small speed
and practice balancing with just one foot on the board facing forward. You can then lightly lower your
other foot to the ground (also facing forward). Experiment with using your whole foot or just your heel
or toe.
For the video, you must foot brake from a reasonable speed to a complete stop.
Attached is a video of me doing a foot brake. (such a crappy vid that i couldn't bare to upload to youtube.)
